FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!
Sunday 8th April 2007Remember this date.
This is Easter 2007
What makes this Easter special? Nothing in particular. Every Easter is special. It seems that Chrisians have forgotten the purpose and duty that accompany this Holy Day.
Easter is a celebration of life. . . Eternal life. It was on this day that Jesus the carpenter, the Son of God, Messiah, the Christ rose from the dead. God walked out of the grave after being buried for 3 days.
So why is this so wonderful? Because with this event in history the sins, failings and falterings of the entire world have the ability to be forgiven. Forever erased from God's memory. By being forgiven we are gurarenteed eternal life in the presence of God and very God.
How is this possible? Why is it possible? Is it really possible? The answers are both simple and complex. For want of space let's stay with the simple.
If eternal life, salvation and God's love is made too complex then the world gives up on Easter and its message. The church, over the centuries, has made the message of Easter so difficult to understand that many don't or will not give God/ church a chance to be healthy . . Spiritually. In fact, the church is an unhealthy organization and is on life support sustained by God.
How does the Easter message work?First understand the simplicity of God. Because God IS God there is nothing in the universe greater than God. This is the eternal truth that must be accepted if faith is to remain logical, believable and functional.
God is who He says He is >>>> GOD.
Long story short. In the Old Testament, once a year, God required blood sacrifices from the people offered by the Priests in the form of a slaughterd lamb void of imperfection for the forgiveness (atonement) of their sins. The lamb bled to death. God took that same requirement and made it permanant with a one time event. He offered His only son, Jesus, to die on a cross by the shedding of blood. God offered the blood sacrifice of an innocent man (without sin) for the forgiveness of our sins without the event ever having to be repeated again >>>EVER. Ah, there is a catch however. That being we must believe this is what God did for us without strings attached.
Why is this possible? This is possible for two reasons. First, God said it must be. Second, Jesus is God. Evil came into the world and introduced sin; evil defects in God's perfect world. Thus God, who is greater than all things, sacrificed Self so that Self's creation would not suffer for their own evil nature and character defects. "God so loved the world . . . "
Is it really possible? YES! Why wouldn't it be. Since God is God than anything God says and does is possible. Even gaining eternal life by believing Jesus the Son of God, died to eliminate the penalty of sin in our life. Will we sin? YES! Are we condemned? NO, not if we believe that the sacrifice of the Lamb of God on Calvary. There, hanging on a cross, Jesus released us from the prison of sin.
