Christmas in Arlington Cemetary
Christmas is nigh. Our country is in a horrific battle with global terrorists. I do not like war, I do not like conflict, in fact I hate war. What I do understand is that war is necessary to preserve freedom not only for the U.S.A. but for others in our world wide community.
My brother served during Vietnam War and every day he was deployed I feared he would die. I had cousins, nephews, friends serve in war zones and feared for their safety as well. At the same time I was envious I could not serve and proud of them for protecting my interests.
If one person dies because of violence, it is one too many. Too many headstones need not be nor should have happened. We have too many cities of stone.
Christmas is near, loved ones who serve and those who gave all for us will not be able to celebrate with families this year. Some never again. Honor these men and women with your support of their sacrifice, with your prayers for peace and your voice to let our military do the job they have been trained.
War is only over for the one who died.
What may look beautiful for the season is an ugly reminder that war never solves anything. None the less, our military personel need our support, not criticism for doing the work they were called. No one condemns my sister for being a nurse, my brother for being an attorney (though some of the jokes are true), nor myself for being a pastor. A soldier in the trenches, an ace in the skies, a seaman on ship, a leatherneck behind lines, a corpman, supply officer, private or General/Admiral never should face hatred for the work they do. Hate war while understanding it is waging of war that gives us the ability to speak openly.
This is a season for hope, love, forgiveness and rememberance. We are here because of a loving God and self sacrificing military. Take hold of the promises of God and the honor of men and women of service. Witness the beauty of both, sense the peace they afford, honor the duty they manifest.
Arlington is beautiful during the Christmas Holidays. Keep the days Holy by honoring the fallen, the serving and pray for peace.
God Bless our Service men and women. Let us NEVER forget those who gave all that the rest of us might live FREE!Subscribe to Posts [Atom]
